November MAGAM Determined

The theme for November's Make a Garment a Month is "Natural".  My garment is going to be a wool jacket using Simplicity 1320 and a jacket I pinned awhile ago on Pinterest as my inspiration.

Here's the Pin:

I'll use Simplicity 1320 as my pattern, View A:

And here's my selection of fabrics - both of them wools from the stash.  This is an unlined jacket, but I'll add a lining to it.  Linings make a jacket so much easier to get off and on I think.

Close-up of the felted piece:

I'm pretty sure I purchased the felted piece at Joann's a few years ago and the plain black has been in the stash for awhile too.  They will make a great jacket when paired together.  Now I just need to find some buttons that will work!

Happy sewing everyone!

    1. I'll try but I can't guarantee it! I'm working on something else at the moment that I plan on bringing.

  3. This is going to be gorgeous - you have such a divine piece of felled fabric, just perfect for this. Can't wait to see how this develops - and you have given me an idea for a jacket now. Looks like you and The Winter Queen are meeting up - how wonderful.

  4. Ooo, can't wait! I am anxious to see if you follow the original very closely or just as an inspiration. Either way, with your skills and those fabrics it will be wonderful. I find the reverse appliques at the waist on the black side particularly interesting.

    1. Thanks Bunny. I'm not sure if I will incorporate the appliqués into my version or not. My buttons are pretty interesting and the appliqué might detract from them. But, who knows!
