New Look 6139 PJ bottoms

Just a super duper quick post today!  Another pair of PJ bottoms using New Look 6139.  These are from a lightweight cotton print I had in the stash.  I only had one yard of this fabric so it was perfect for these pj's.

I used a trim with little birds on it for the waistline treatment.  As mentioned in my previous post on these bottoms, I really like this waistline feature.

Stashbustin quest info -
Total yardage for these pj bottoms = 1 yard
Total YTD = 73.41 yards!

Happy sewing everyone!

More pajamas!!

Once again, here is my favorite pajama pattern - McCalls 3017.  This flannel fabric I purchased at a local quilting guild sale a few weeks ago.  It actually didn't have enough time to make it into the stash stack as I cut out the pajamas in record time!

Pairing the flannel with some blue cotton striped fabric I had in the stash already and purchasing some polka dot piping at my local fabric store, this new set of pj's came together fairly quickly.

For the buttons, I used my stacking button technique with a large blue button on the bottom, followed by a smaller red button on top of that, followed by an even smaller green button on top of the red one.  Because I'm not a stomach sleeper, I can use this technique quite easily on pajamas.

For the pocket I used a little more of the blue fabric with the piping in between.  Pockets in pajamas are a must for me!!

Just a quick post today as I've used this pattern multiple times it seems redundant to keep reiterating the same thing about this pattern over and over.

I'm not sure if I should actually count the flannel fabric as part of my stashbustin' quest, but, I'm going to throw abandon to the wind and go ahead and count it - mainly because by using the flannel, I was able to incorporate the blue cotton that was in the stash so really, without the flannel fabric, the blue fabric will still be in the stash so I'm countin it!

Total yardage for pajamas = 5.25 yards
YTD stashbustin' total = 33.125 yards

I'm nearing the halfway point of my 70 yard total from last year.  So far, I am right on track to beat that this year! Whoop!  Whoop!

Happy sewing everyone!

New Look 6026

I love pajamas.  I could live in them all day long given the chance. If it were socially acceptable and in compliance with our dress code, I would wear them to work!  And who wouldn't want to when you have cute pajamas like these!

This is actually a practice muslin I used for fitting the New Look 6026 blouse pattern. I had a few yards of this cute yoga print and a coordinating purple and thought it would be a great to try out on this pattern and get a new pair of pajamas in the process.  A sewed View A with the cute sleeve ruffle.

New Look 6026

Here's a close up of the curved neckline and the sleeve facings with the sleeve ruffle.

Side view.  I ended up shortening the body of the blouse by 4 inches.  I didn't want the ruffle to hit right at the hip area, so I raised it up a little higher.

Back view.  I was running short on fabric so the yoga girls on the back aren't centered, but oh well, it's pajamas right!  Also, the pattern calls for a small tie in the back which I eliminated.  This would give it a little more shaping in the back but who wants to sleep with a big knot in their back.

Here's the front all by itself.

The bottoms are just an elastic waist pant, but I wanted to share a little technique my grandmother taught me. An easy way to tell the front from the back is to sew a little grosgrain ribbon tab to the back waistband. Now, at a quick glance, when you are tired and ready for bed, you just have to look for the tab!

Until next time!
